A finished living room with Roman shades softening warm afternoon light

How it works · Four steps

Bare window to beautiful, in four acts

No showroom trip, no measuring it yourself, and no wondering who is accountable if something is not right. Here is exactly what happens, and roughly when.

The four acts

What actually happens.

Start to finish is usually two to four weeks, and the only part that needs you at home is the first and last.

  • I  —  Free consultationCall or request a quote online and we come to your house with samples, at a time that suits you — evenings and Saturdays included. We look at every window in scope, talk through what each room actually needs, and quote on the spot with current promotions applied. No deposit, no obligation, and deciding against it is a perfectly normal outcome.
  • II  —  Professional measureWe measure every opening ourselves, and we do it at the same visit. That matters more than it sounds: when one company measures and another installs, a quarter-inch error becomes an argument about whose fault it is. Here it is simply our problem, which is why we take the tape seriously the first time.
  • III  —  Made for your windowsYour order goes to Graber, Norman or our fabric workrooms and is built to your measurements — not cut down from a stock size. Typically two to four weeks; shutters take longest because every panel is made to your opening. You get a realistic date at the quote rather than an optimistic one.
  • IV  —  Installation, by usInstallation is scheduled around you. It gets fitted, adjusted and demonstrated, and the packaging leaves with us. Then the lifetime service warranty starts: if a mechanism fails or something needs adjusting in five years, you call us and we come back out.

Why it is set up this way

One company, start to finish.

In much of this trade a job passes through three different companies: one quotes it, another measures it, a third fits it. When something is a quarter-inch out, that becomes a conversation about whose fault it is, and the homeowner is the one holding it.

Here it is one company throughout. We quote it, we measure it, we order it and we are the ones who warrant the installation. Whoever is on the ladder on the day, the job is ours — which is why we can offer a lifetime service warranty and why there is never a question about who to call.

Questions

Asked and answered.

How long does the whole thing take?

Usually two to four weeks from the consultation to the install, depending on the product. Shutters are the slowest because each panel is built to your opening; most shades are quicker. We give you a realistic date at the quote rather than the best case.

Do I need to be home for all of it?

Only the first visit and the install. The measure happens at the consultation, and everything in between is us and the workrooms.

What if something is wrong when it arrives?

We remake or repair it. Custom-made goods cannot be returned to stock — they will not fit anybody else's windows — but a fault, damage or a mis-specification is our problem to solve, not yours.
