How close to the ocean is too close for wood shutters?
As a rule of thumb, if you can taste salt on the air on a windy day, go composite. It looks close enough to painted hardwood that most people cannot tell, and it will not swell, split or shed its finish after three seasons. We would rather lose the upsell than replace your shutters in five years.
Do I need to be at the house for the measure?
Somebody does, but it does not have to be you — a rental manager, a cleaner or a neighbour with a key is fine, and we can work to a handover window rather than a fixed hour. Most of our shore work is second homes, so we are used to owners who are up in Philadelphia or Washington when the job needs doing. Tell us what access looks like and we will fit around it.
