Plantation shutters
Hardwood louvers built to the opening, which matters when the opening is 150 years old and square nowhere. Hung on a frame that hides the out-of-plumb.
Lancaster County · PA
We come to you in Strasburg, PA with samples, then design, measure and quote on the spot — free, and with no obligation. Professionally installed and warranted for life.
Strasburg homes
Strasburg is one of the older boroughs in the county and it looks it, in the good sense — a long main street of eighteenth and nineteenth century buildings, much of it inside a historic district, with newer development held to the edges. Plenty of the housing stock predates the idea of a standard window size.
Period houses ask a different question than new construction does. Openings are rarely square, reveals are often deep enough to change what will physically fit, and the treatment has to suit the age of the room without turning it into a reproduction. Interior shutters tend to sit well in these houses; so does a simple shade that does not fight the woodwork. What we will not do is quote it off a phone call — old openings are exactly where measuring from assumptions goes wrong.
What we fit
Everything is built to the measured opening rather than cut down from a stock size, and everything is installed by the same people who measured it.
Hardwood louvers built to the opening, which matters when the opening is 150 years old and square nowhere. Hung on a frame that hides the out-of-plumb.
Insulating cell shades for single-glazed sash windows, and soft Roman folds where a hard treatment would fight the trim.
For the tall stairwell and transom windows these houses are full of — the ones nobody has touched since they moved in.

Questions
Usually, yes. Deep reveals and out-of-square openings are routine for us, and there are mounting approaches that work inside original trim rather than through it. We will tell you at the measure if an opening genuinely limits the options, rather than finding out at installation.
Yes, and there is no obligation attached to it. We bring samples to your home, then design, measure and quote on the spot, with current promotions applied. Evenings included. If you decide against it at the end, that is a perfectly normal outcome and it costs you nothing.
Usually two to four weeks from measure to install, depending on the product and how busy the workrooms are. Shutters take longest because they are built to your openings; most shades are quicker. We give you a realistic date at the quote rather than an optimistic one.
